Who we are
About
The Refined Directive exists to bring coherence to institutions, founders, and cultural organizations that have outgrown fragmented identity, unclear leadership narratives, or disjointed public presence.
We work where meaning matters — at the intersection of governance, culture, design, and leadership. When these forces drift out of alignment, even the strongest organizations begin to feel unfocused: busy but not directed, visible but not understood, active but not authoritative.
Our work restores that alignment.
What We Do
We help organizations see themselves clearly — so they can act, speak, and lead with confidence.
This includes aligning:
Leadership intent
Internal culture
Public narrative
Visual systems
Strategic decision-making
into a single, coherent authority.
We are not here to decorate brands.
We are here to make institutions legible.
Our Founder
The Creative Directive was founded by Les Jordan, a creative director, cultural strategist, and institutional architect with decades of experience leading complex organizations, artistic institutions, and public-facing brands.
Les’ work spans performing arts, education, nonprofit leadership, and large-scale creative systems — from continuing to directing one of North Texas’s longest-running ballet companies to designing multi-million-dollar institutional environments, public programs, and cultural initiatives.
What distinguishes his work is not style, but structure: the ability to see where meaning breaks down inside an organization, and how identity, leadership, and design must be realigned for authority to be restored.
Why This Exists
Most organizations do not fail because of lack of talent, funding, or effort.
They fail because meaning fractures.
Leadership says one thing.
Culture behaves another way.
The public experiences something else entirely.
Over time, trust erodes.
The Creative Directive exists to close that gap — and to rebuild the deep coherence that allows institutions to lead with clarity and conviction.
How We Work
Every engagement begins with diagnosis.
We map the organization as it actually exists — not as it is described in strategy decks or public language, but as it is lived day to day. We listen to leadership, observe internal narratives, and analyze public signals.
From there, we construct a unified framework that aligns narrative, design, and governance into a single, authoritative system.
This allows organizations to move forward — not louder, but clearer.
